is an 8-part choral composition by Mitchell Calderone. Originally written as a piano instrumental, the song is heavily based on the dissonance of very close harmonies. This method weaves together vibrant yet soothing chord progressions that, alongside the lyrics, describe the fading of a beautiful sunset.
This beautiful sunset is a metaphor- making reference to the feelings linked with depression, and by the line "these thoughts will fade away soon", with suicide and hope.
On May 23, 2017, Mitchell Calderone recorded the Kankakee Valley High School Concert Choir singing the piece. After the preceding months of preparation, he conducted the group through the song for the very last time, recording the audio that he will use on his album, Bridge the Gap.
In addition to the piano instrumental, the choral version will also be available for purchase through the limited edition of Mitchell's Bridge the Gap album. A recording of this piano instrumental is at the end of the video at the bottom of the page.
